How did I start blogging? What was my inspiration to do so? Why only blogging? What is the reason behind your writings? I have been getting these questions from a long time on all my social media platforms. So I decided to finally break the silence and tell you people about my story of how I started blogging.
The blogging story begins when I was 15 years old and was in my 10 standard. Till that time I didn’t know that I could write something. We had this competition held in our school that changed my life. The competition was held by some external NGO. We were provided with three topics. We were supposed to select any one of those three topics and write either a story or a poem or draw a poster.
I don’t remember all the three topics, but I the topic I chose was ‘suicide and how to stop it.’ As soon as I came to know about this competition, I couldn’t wait to participate in it. My mind was bombarded with ideas. I just wanted to write all my ideas down. And that’s how your girl knew that writing was a thing for her.
The story doesn’t end here. As soon as I reached home, I freshed up and started to pen my ideas down. And in and hour or two, I finished writing my first poem. I was pretty confident about my poem and titled it “I Have Decided It”
The next day I submitted the poem to our respective coordinator. I waited patiently for the results. It was after a week that results were announced. To my surprise I won the first prize. I was over the moon for that. After that day I knew exactly what I was good at and that writing would change my life.
I came home and I wanted to put my poem in a platform where everyone could see it. And that’s where blogging came into picture. I quickly googled everything about blogging. After a week, I finally created an account on ‘Blogger’ and posted my first blog post.
From there no one could stop me. I even started posting quotes on my Instagram profile. I got a lot of support on both the platforms. I continued doing it with all my heart. I didn’t blow up or go viral of course. I had limited number of audience who constantly supported me always.
After a year I switched from Blogger to WordPress. I don’t have a specific reason for doing so, but I am glad that I did so. Meanwhile, I even got many opportunities to participate in anthologies. My quotes and articles were being published in books as well.
I approached an E magazine know as B Louder Magazine to give my writings to be published in their magazine. I had to go under a little audition for that and was finally selected. I even submitted a few articles to them until I had to discontinue doing it as I was in my 12 standard and I didn’t really get time to do that.
I was really determined to make blogging as a side profession. I had thought in my mind that I would buy my own domain name and website as soon as I was done with all of my exams. My parents were really supportive throughout as they also saw the passion in my eyes.
The day I was done with my exams, I started with the whole process of getting a website (this website itself) for myself. After a month my website was fully ready and functional. It took me a year to reach 1000+ views in my previous WordPress website but in my present website, I reach 1000+ views in two months. Not only this but I even hit my first milestone, 1000+ followers on Instagram simultaneously.
I even applied for Google AdSense and my application was accepted. Thanks to Google. I never even imagined that I would be able to reach this stage in my life. I never even thought that I had the ability to write. This just proves that anyone can do anything in their life. The only thing required is passion and hard work towards your goal.
